Why mod a Wii U? Because it can play WiiU, Wii and Gamecube games perfectly from a hard drive. Plus through emulation, it can play NES, SNES, GB, GBC, GBA and limited compatibility, the N64. This makes it the most complete and easy to mod system out there with a bonus unique gimmick of the double screen.

The complete detailed guide (with download links) is available here to get you started: https://wiiu.hacks.guide/

But here's my simple guide:

Get yourself an SD card and a hard drive with a Y-Cable (if you plan to play real WiiU titles). If you are only planning to play older titles, the SD card and the built-in hard drive will work fine.

Format the SD card to FAT 32 with 16KB clusters on the quick format on Windows. DONT CALL THE SD CARD "WiiU" or "Wii U"

Create a folder called "install" and then another folder called "wiiu." Inside the wiiu folder, create another folder called "apps."

Place the "appstore" folder inside the "apps" folder found here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-homebrew-app-store-for-wiiu.433275/

Place the "homebrew_launcher" folder inside the "apps" folder found here: https://github.com/dimok789/homebrew_launcher/releases/download/v1.2_RC3/homebrew_launcher.v1.2_RC3.zip

That's it, go to your Wii U and boot up the web browser and go to the site "wiiu.console.guide/exploit"
