Wild Arms Tech - Hollow Memory Manipulation: Lady Harken III Skip
Proof of Concept for the utility of hollow memory manipulation.
Steps:
1. 4P hollow man
2. Switch from Rudy to Jack to Cecilia
3. Use Pin Wheel, Toy Hammer, and Holy Symbol on Rudy
4. Move the tool cursor 159 positions to the left by pressing L2 on Rudy
5. Unequip 4P Hollow Man's Body equipment.
This sets the Lady Harken III flag so that the game considers her defeated. Arctica Castle still needs to be visited to trigger the Ka Dingel Rising cutscene.
4P hollow man points to the memory directly above the character data memory, and Rudy's status effects are the memory offset used. By curing Confusion, Forgetfulness and Curse, the offset is shortened so that the 4P hollow man points to the section of memory used for story flags. By changing Rudy's tool index, the memory 4P hollow man points to adjusts upwards in memory by the size of character data (52 bytes) in order for finer control. This allows manipulation of some story flags by changing values on the character, in this case unequipping the body armor. Not all flags can be set due to the specific section of memory needing to be something that can be modified by the player on a character.
