Deadline is reporting that Will Smith is in talks to take on the iconic genie role made famous by the late Robin Williams in Disney’s live-action Aladdin directed by Guy Ritchie. The adaptation of the animated feature follows the studio’s live action slate of films that has recently exploded with a 1 billion haul from Beauty of the Beast; and will follow with the retellings of Dumbo, The Lion King and now, Aladdin.
Variety is reporting that Fox Searchlight has given an awards season release date to Guillermo del Toro’s fantasy film The Shape of Water. The film stars Sally Hawkins, Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones and Octavia Spencer and is about a lonely government facility janitor whose life is changed when she discovers and falls in love with an aquatic man — played by Jones — who is being held captive for testing.

In a recent interview with Blackfilm.com, standout Deadpool actress Leslie Uggams, who played the loveable yet fierce Blind Al opposite Ryan Reynolds, confirmed she would return for its sequel in Deadpool 2.
Focus Features has released the first official trailer for The Beguiled, the new film from director Sofia Coppola that stars Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning. The story takes place at an all-girls school in Virginia 1864 , during the Civil War when a wounded Union soldier is discovered nearby and taken in, upsetting the balance of the school that has been sheltered from the outside world.
Earlier this year, Woody Harrelson mounted an experimental production by filming a movie live and broadcasting it movie theatres for one night only. The movie, shot in real time and with one continuous shot (and only one camera) is written, directed and starring Harrelson and is entitled Lost in London. Based on a true experience Harrelson had in 1992, the film finds him learning that he’s the subject of the latest celebrity tabloid scandal.
