Will This Special-Edition 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Wreak Havoc on a Raptor R?
Will This Special-Edition 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Wreak Havoc on a Raptor R?
While it doesn’t add any more chaos under the hood, the Ram TRX Havoc Edition will cause a scene.
The Ram 1500 TRX is already a huge, powerful, attention-grabbing truck thanks to its beefy fenders and supercharged V-8. Want it to stand out more? The new Havoc Edition is ready to help. Colored in a bright yellow paint scheme, the TRX Havoc Edition is going to be noticed no matter where you drive or park it. Might the new Ford Raptor R and its force-fed V-8 engine have anything to do with this sudden burst of extroversion from Ram? Your guess is as good as ours, but let's see if the Ram 1500 TRX Havoc Edition helps the TRX stay in the super-truck hunt.
Stirring A Bit Of Chaos

The whole hullabaloo of the 2023 Ram 1500 TRX Havoc Edition is that it gives buyers a new look. According to Ram, the Havoc offers "greater personalization" with a "unique combination of technology, graphics, performance and exterior appearance." From the full description of the truck, we're wondering about the "performance" part beyond the fact that it is a 702-hp TRX.
Outside, the Havoc Edition is shot in a very bright Baja Yellow that is a perfect contrast to its black graphics package and standard trim. It's also factory equipped with the TRX Level Two Equipment Group, which includes 18-inch all-black beadlock-capable wheels, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, spray-in bedliner, cargo tie-downs, a bed step, and a LED high mount stop light.

Inside, it's a mix of leather, Prowler Yellow accents, and carbon fiber. That Prowler Yellow is found on the seats' accent stitching, TRX embroidery on the seatbacks, and across the center console and dashboard. The armrest has Alcantara on its resting surface along with the Havoc Edition TRX badge that lists each truck's VIN, horsepower, engine, supercharger, and boost pressure, just like in the standard TRX—albeit with Baja Yellow font. That same hue finds its way onto the gauge-cluster display and head-up display, on which animations of the TRX are rendered in—you guessed it—Baja Yellow. The driver keeps this wild Ram in control with the TRX's steering wheel that features a flat-bottom while wrapped in leather, carbon fiber, and Prowler Yellow accent stitching.

A Disruptive Performance That Hasn't Been Changed
If you're wondering whether the Havoc Edition wreaks any havoc under the TRX's hood, you aren't alone. The engine, drivetrain, and suspension are all the same, so performance should be identical to that of the standard Ram 1500 TRX. A supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 making 702 hp and 640 lb-ft of torque, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and four-wheel drive remain standard. Every TRX also gets a much stiffer frame than non-TRX 1500 models, as well as 2.5-inch Bilstein dampers with remote reservoirs and electronic valve adjustments. The TRX is an extremely capable off-road truck and one of our favorites to this day, so it's no bad thing that the Havoc Edition is basically the same, even if we wished there were a little more chaos included.
