Will YouTube Red Hurt or Help YouTube Gamers In The Long Run?
Let's talk about why YouTube Red will be a good thing for gaming youtubers in the long run.
My friend Wolf Wraith wrote in and asked Do you think YouTube Red will screw over gaming content creators, since most developers/publishers prohibit creators for making people pay to view their content?
The information that YouTube has put up about it is very vague and it seems creators aren't really being given a choice, I was reading an article that ESPN had major licensing issues to a point they removed a large portion of their videos and instantly thought about gaming content since a lot of publishers who post their policies online usually state you can't charge people to view the content. Will this effect us in the same way or am I misinterpreting the new service and terms?
For starters, YouTube makes a lot of revenue from gaming footage and they would not be incentivized to do something huge to hurt people feeding that revenue stream.
Secondly, YouTube is not charging viewers to view gaming content, but to remove ads.
