Why YouTube Unsubscribers Make Me Happy - Pareto Principle, the 80/20 Rule
Let's talk about why you should freak out when subscribers unsubscribe from your YouTube channel. It really comes down to the 80/20 rule better known as the Pareto Principle.
Wikipedia defines the Pareto Principle this way:
The Pareto principle (also known as the 80–20 rule, the law of the vital few, and the principle of factor sparsity) states that, for many events, roughly 80% of the effects come from 20% of the causes.
If that's the case, then 20% of your subscribers are probably responsible for 80% of your subscribed views on YouTube. This 20% of people are also probably highly active and the folks you really want to have around to help your channel become more discoverable.
Chances are, the few subscribers you lose are probably part of the 80% of subscribers who don't really engage with your content on a recurring active basis. If so, losing a few of those folks probably helps you more than it hurts you.
