If you want to do a clean install you need to do the update to Windows 10 first, upgrading or selecting clear settings to generate a new Microsoft key that will work with your machine. With speccy by Piriform, you can read out the license key you're given. It is always goes to write that down.
With that key you can do a clean install from scratch. You can't do a full clean install install from scratch without doing with method of the upgrade first. Or Microsoft doesn't generate you a new Windows 10 key, and you can't clean install that machine.
