Windows 11: Camera App Shows Lock Icon In Grey Screen
Fix Camera Not Working Lock Icon appears with grey screen on Windows 11
Step 1) Restart your PC
Step 2) Many computers come with a physical hardware button you need to press or slide to enable or disable camera
Step 3) For MSI laptop, for few model numbers press Fn+F6 on the keyboard to enable camera
Step 4) If you have Asus computer for some model number pressing F10 enables the camera.
Step 5) Some HP laptop has a camera kill switch on side of the laptop, you have to slide the camera switch to enable and disable the camera.
Step 6) Lenovo computers pressing F8 may enable your camera, for few lenovo model number enabling camera from Lenovo Vantage app
Step 7) Some laptops have a sliding lens cover which you can slide
Step 8) Make sure camera access is on in privacy settings
Step 9) Run Camera troubleshooter
Step 10) Reset camera app
Step11) Disable and enable camera
Step 12) Allow Camera and browser access to your antivirus program, you can also disable your Antivirus program when using the camera
Step 13) Update camera driver from device manager
Step 14) Uninstall camera driver and restart your PC
Step 15) Update camera driver from system manufacturer's website
Step 16) Sometimes camera is disabled in BIOS, (Start your PC and immediately tap F2 to enter the BIOS) so go to the system BIOS and make sure camera is enabled in the BIOS.
Step 17) Update Windows 11
Step 18) Perform Cleanboot
Step 19) Update system BIOS
Step 20) Perform system restore
Step 21) Reset your PC- This will result in data loss so backup your data before reset.
Step 22) Run Hardware test for camera
