Windows XP Plus! Dancer (KTz - "AM-3P")
One of my fondest memories as a kid was the Dell Dimension 8400 that my Mom & Dad bought in 2004 when I was 9 or 10 years old, which was the family computer for a few years. It came with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005, and I remember how luxurious it felt compared to vanilla XP versions. It came with four desktop themes that we all used (Mom used the Nature theme, Dad used the Da Vinci theme, my little sister used the Aquarium theme, and I used the Space theme), and each one had really cool 3d-accelarated screensavers and great sound schemes. But one feature that I only have vague memories of yet also thought was really cool at the time was the Dancer feature carried over from Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP. Basically, it contained a bunch of pre-recorded actors dancing in front of a green screen that you could set to your music library. It may look cheesy now, but back then it was pretty mind-blowing to see live people dancing right there on your desktop!
So as a tribute, I decided to record some footage of it in action. By default, Plus! Dancer contains only one dancer, Amanda... and the page from Microsoft containing the other available dancers is no longer active. But I found another site - don't know where - that had all of them archived. I brought in Daniel and had him jam to a song from DDRMAX2, one of my sister's favorite PS2 games back in the day. I hope you enjoy!
