It's time for another update on our progress! Since I'm the "video guy," this one is yet again an update on FMV developments.

Here's a video comparing the DVD/GOG version of Wing Commander IV, my previous HD Video Pack and the current quality level we're getting in-game in Wing Commander IV: Remastered.

We recently completed a pass which vastly improves video quality in the game - to the point where I thought it was worth showing it off and comparing it to the most recent (and probably final) version of my HD Video Pack that can be used with the original game (V5.0).

By switching to h.265 encoding and offsetting the film grain to an animated texture that's applied in real-time rather than baked into the video, we've managed to squeeze the file size of the videos down to 64% of previous efforts. All this while improving image quality, allowing for optional HFR/60fps playback AND embedding three audio languages (English, German and French).
