Witcher 3 , 4k recording using AMD VSR ReLive on 1080p monitor ( NOT edited )
game ouputs as 1080p ,... internaly renders and records at 4k.
3840 x 2160 30 fps max for 4k recordings
VSR at 4k reduces game play fps . Previous generation programs
can take advantage of VSR 4k to act like hardware Super-Sampling, provided the menu detects 3840 x 2160 as a resolution choice .All using the GPU ( hardware h.264 or h.265 ) encoder .
Witcher 3 has settings to the max , including Hair works applied to
Geralt with 4x AA applied to Hair Works .
4k VSR put a little hurt on the RX 570 video card .
Still impressive to see high quality 4k source footage .
DOOM 2016 with Vulkan still runs good at 3840 x 2160
using 4k recording
AMD graphic cards can do 4k recordings to .mp4 h.264 or h.265
and can be edited in Vegas 14 or newer . However , VegasTime Line is very , very sluggish as Vegas is NOT accessing the GPU .
To ensure you are playing youtube at 4k , click the Gear at the lower right , then click the resolution text to view ALL choices.
Now click 3840x2160 30 fps at Top of the list .
RX 570 supports HDR . will it record in 4k HDR ? i don't know .
i only have a 1080p HD TV .
4k game recording without a capture card . Use AMD video card
with VSR ( Virtual Super Resolution ) setting .
If you have a 4k monitor\TV you are all set to record 4k .
just press Ctrl-Shift-R to toggle record\stop .
set desktop to 3840 x 2160
( if you want to record\screen capture 4k desktop from the cards VRAM )
These ( videos and screen shots ) are NOT scaled version , they are the Full 4k
quality that resides in the cards 4k frame buffer .
Again , VSR's only purpose is to allow 4k on a 1080p monitor\TV
In game menu , set resolution to 3840 x 2160 ,
the output will be down sampled to 1080p on the HMDI ouput
to the 1080p TV .
However , ALL internal processing and recording occurs at 4k on the GPU ,...Amazing !
external HDMI recorders can pass thru 4k and record at 1080p .
well ,
AMD video card records at true 4k and outputs 1080p !
or it can record at 4k while displaying 4k ( 4k monitor\TV required )
Ultra Shadow Map size slows fps . Thus , using "High Shadow Map"
same is true with "Dying Light" . "Very High Shadow Map" puts to much
strain on the GPU , thus uisng "High Shadow Map" in Dying Light .
reducing Shadow Map size one notch makes a notable differnce in smooth panning .
AA is another fps reducing feature ( i never use AA ) .
If you have a 4k monitor\TV , you do NOT need to use VSR ,
as you are already runnng 4k inside and out .
