Wizardry PGotMO is the granpa of RPGs. Released in 1981, it laid the groundwork for many games.
This game has had many versions, but this one stands out among them because it lets you configure things however you're most comfortable with: whether you want to play with the original Apple II maps or the console ones, whether your characters age, whether you can use spells to revise the map, and so on.
