Wonder Boy in Monster Land is a side-scrolling action-adventure game for the Sega Master System. It is the second game in the Wonder Boy series and the first game in the Monster Land sub-series. The game follows the adventures of a young hero named Tom-Tom as he travels across Monster Land to defeat the evil Dragon and his minions. Along the way, he meets various shopkeepers and fairies, collects gold and items, and fights different enemies and bosses.
The game was released in Japan in 1987, in Europe and Australia in 1988, and in North America in 1989. It received mixed reviews from critics, who praised its graphics, music, and gameplay, but criticized its difficulty, controls, and lack of save feature. It is considered one of the most challenging games on the Master System, as well as one of the most influential games in the genre.
