Welcome to our playthrough of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D! We are playing this on the Citra emulator using the Project Restoration patch, which can be found here: https://restoration.zora.re/

Essentially, this patch combines the best parts of the N64 version with the best parts of the 3DS version, creating the definitive version of the game! We have the graphics, controls, save system, interface, etc. from the 3DS version, and the boss design and Zora swimming from the N64 version. There are also some quality of life changes, such as mapping the transformation masks to the d-pad.

Majora's Mask originally came out for the Nintendo 64 in 2000, very shortly after Ocarina of Time. With the success of Ocarina of Time, Nintendo wanted to quickly create a new Zelda game, so Majora's Mask was made in just 10 months. It uses a lot of the assets and characters from Ocarina of Time, but puts them into a whole new setting. Chronologically, the game takes place after Ocarina of Time, following the path of Child Link once Ganon is defeated.

The game was rereleased on the GameCube, as part of the The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition bundle. Then, it was released on the virtual console of both the Wii and Wii U. Finally, in 2015, Nintendo released a full remake of the game for the 3DS, Majora's Mask 3D, alongside the New Nintendo 3DS XL. This version was an upgrade in most regards, but it made some key changes that left long-time fans dissatisfied. Thankfully, the patch we are using fixes this.
