One of the many fighting games from the early 90's to compete with Capcom's Street Fighter II. Created by ADK (Alpha) and ran on SNK's Neo Geo arcade and home system. The game features eight playable characters, many of which are based off historic figures (while some are fictional). The gameplay uses three buttons: punch, kick, and throw, with the former two differ depending on how you pressed the button (tap or hold).
I play through the game's Normal mode as Janne D'Arc (later renamed Jeanne D'Arc in SNK Heroines), based on the historical Joan of Arc. Her specials are charge inputs, and her sword can transform into a sword whip. As far as I know, she was the first knight lady in a fighting game, predating SamSho's Charlotte by a year.
