The Challenger is a British tier 7 turreted tank destroyer.
Created in 1942 based on the extended chassis of the Cromwell. One definite advantage of the new vehicle was its 17-pounder gun, which was the most powerful British gun at that time. This allowed the tank destroyer to effectively hit the enemy at distances up to 1,000 meters. However, the vehicle had a large silhouette and the chassis was overloaded. A total of about 200 vehicles were built.
It is often called one of the worst tier 7 tank Destroyers, although in actuality, once you are past the first gun and turret it becomes a very competitive vehicle. most people will complain about the penetration or damage, but in actuality it is actually fine, and you will not struggle to penetrate much, especially if you choose your targets well. This Tank is best played as either a snipe; this however, is hard because of the terrible camouflage ratings, a flanker; this tank can do very well in this role, especially on maps like Malinovka, where your fast speed and good RoF will allow you to achieve extremely well. It can also be played as a brawler, but it is significantly hampered in this area by its bad turret traverse speed. Be careful that you do not get hit, as your health evaporates fast and your engine is very easily set on fire.
Overall, this is a great tank, and very rewarding too, but only if you can figure out a way to play it well. Once you have done this, you will be richly rewarded.
