----- Patch 0.7.3.0 -----
Whilst it may not be as popular a game-mode as Domination or Epicentre, Standard Battle can throw up its own challenges and pitfalls.
Today I discuss one of the key pitfalls of the Standard Battle game mode: knowing when to defend your base rather than continue being on the offensive.
To highlight this point clearly, I thought I would analyse a Tier VII Standard Battle on the map Two Brothers where I sail out in the Tier VII British Cruiser known as the Fiji.
As part of my analysis, the key points to note are:
- Identifying, through use of the mini-map, relative distributions of your team versus the enemy team and understanding where the enemy's main push will come from
- As an individual, being willing to switch from Offence to Defence (and vice-versa) as needed; sometimes on multiple occassions in quick succession
- That the switch from Offence to Defence (and vice-versa) is a team effort which is typically influenced by the behaviour of the team's capital ships (i.e. Battleships)
