This video shows the evolution of video game sales on consoles (home, portable & hybrid) and Acrade. It therefore does not take into account PC games or on other platforms.

This video does not distinguish between manufacturers, publishers, or even the generation of consoles.

On the other hand, it distinguishes the many regions of Video Game sales.

The North America Region includes: United States, Canada, Central America and the Antilles.

The South America Region includes: South America.

The Western Europe Region includes: All European countries of the Western Bloc during the Cold War.

The Eastern Europe / Russia region: Includes all countries of the Eastern Bloc during the Cold War and also includes all countries part of the Soviet Union in Asia.

The Australia / New Zealand Region includes: Australia, New Zealand and all States and Territories of Oceania and the Pacific. However, Australia and New Zealand are more representative of the market in this region.

The Japan/Korea Region includes: Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore.

The Asia Region includes: All Rest of Asia, except Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore and the Countries of the Soviet Union.

The Africa Region includes: Africa.

Unlike the traditional video game regions (North America, Western Europe and Japan), other Regions had access to the market later, by a few months, such as South America, Asia or Australia/New Zealand. Or several years like Eastern Europe.

Closed block, we had to wait for the release of the Game Tetris (1984) to see the video game arrive in Eastern Europe.

Africa, being a very young continent, the market potential is still very limited today but it could exceed estimates in the decades to come. In fact, the arrival of video games is very late and develops very slowly in this region, however it began its explosion during the 2020s.
