Worst PS1 Game I Played? | SHOOT, Revisited (PSX), Part 1, Wild West & Ace
*5/22/17 Update* I know there are titles like Bubsy 3D, The Crow: City of Angels, Mortal Kombat: Special Forces & Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi, all of which are some of the worst PS1 games out there. Be advised that this three part review is based on what I experienced, I have yet to play any of the games mentioned from my last sentence.
I revisit a game I didn't want to play again. The original video I uploaded didn't meet my expectations and I did a terrible job at it. I will explain why I remade it on the video. I took a more careful approach and I split it into multiple parts so I can focus on and express my thoughts on two games. In this part, I will be focusing on Wild West and Ace. So how did I do on this remake? MORE BELOW!
Additional commentary: Wild West, later renamed Wanted and then remade again as Dead Eye Jim. Ace, later renamed Hot Shot and remade again as Swat Seige, are similar games and they are repetitive, boring and the characters are hard to control. The game is difficult for the wrong reasons and it's because of the aiming system. That really kills the fun cause the crosshair moves with the character and you have no button to fixate your crosshair. The shotgun is incorrectly named the rifle according to the manual, the wide crosshair is an obvious giveaway that it is a shotgun. Next, the enemies are too generic, the different enemies pop up once in a while to fuck with you but most of the times, they don't do shit. The tank is by far the most fun I had cause it keeps me guessing where the tank will shoot due to it's shitty attack pattern. The turret is a real pain in the dick cause it has its own health bar and it takes as many hits as the tank, so it would make more sense to finish off the tank. As you fight the tank again, both health bars show up... did anyone even bother to test this damn game or did they forget to add a few lines of code and fix it? The enemy counter "bar" really throws me off, I thought it was a timer. So is it really hard to show an enemy sprite = x or something? That's just lazy programming. Last, the palette swaps on further levels are fucking atrocious because it really puts the character into a totally different area as if they time traveled. Look, I know it's a lot to read and I'm learning how to make better reviews. I promise the additional commentary will not be as long on part 2.
I will be posting SHOOT Part 2's updates on my Twitter & FB page. Links in the description below.
