If you want to play aggressively with any degree of success, you need to:

a. Know the map well. Be intimately familiar with the terrain from every position. Where can you get cover? Where can you shoot or be shot from? Learn where the key positions are, be it offensive positions which need to be secured early in the game, or defensive positions where you can hold back a larger force with ease.

b. Know what all the 30 tanks in the game can do. This includes, and is not limited to, the following: (i) armor values and weakspots, (ii) gun characteristics, and (iii) camo and mobility characteristics.

c. Know where to go at the start of the game. If you are a LT/MT, maybe you need to get early spots. If you are not spotting, or even in an artillery, you need to watch where your scout is spotting, and determine if you can get early damage off. Most importantly, you need to read the lineups, predict where the enemy will deploy, and decide where to go to be of the most use to your team. If you can, get the rest of the team on the same page as you.

d. After getting to your initial position, get the most out of the engagement. Understand that your HP is a resource, which you only want to spend if you get something advantageous in return. On a 1v1 basis, you need to take off more HP from the guy you are brawling, than what you lose. (This is where point (b) also comes into play.) In terms of the bigger picture, if you have an advantage (in terms of numbers and/or firepower) press it while limiting the HP lost. If however you are at a disadvantage, maybe you need to stall, or even retreat.

e. Always be situationally aware. Look constantly at the minimap and/or zoom out to look around you, and recognise if you need to adjust your position relative to your team's and your enemies'. Also, don't play with your minimap at its smallest size.

f. Finally, learn from every game. Playing aggressively means making quick decisions and taking risks. For every play that pans out, make sure you understand why it did, so that you can repeat it in the future. If it didn't work out, realise why you failed, and account for these factors the next time you are in a similar situation.
