The TOG II* is a British tier 6 premium heavy tank.
Developed for trench warfare. Initially, armament was to be placed in the front part of the hull and side sponsons. However, later it was decided not to add the sponsons and instead mount a turret. By 1943, when the TOG II* was completed and ready for trials, it was already obsolete. The vehicle never entered service.
Very long and Very slow, the TOG II is one of the most popular and easily recognizable vehicles in World of Tanks. Despite its bulky appearance, it's not an unstoppable behemoth and instead derives its strength from its 1,400 hit points and fantastic gun. The huge hit point pool and powerful, fast firing 17-pounder gun make it ideal as a base defense tank. With proper positioning and hit point rationing, it can swing seemingly hopeless situations in its favor and win the battle for its team.
Pros:
- Highest HP pool of all Tier 6 tanks (1400 - 440 points higher than second place) It's hard to fight one on one, toe to toe with the TOG II and win
- Very fast firing, high penetration gun. AP rounds can penetrate almost any tank the TOG II faces
- Very good gun depression (At frontal and side only) allows the use of terrain to hide the hull and only present the 114 mm frontal armor of the turret
- Very large ammo capacity (144 rounds)
- Can maintain its (already slow) maximum speed even its driver died and/or engine damaged
- Very cheap ammunition cost; earns massive quantities of silver coins and XP, On par with Tier 7-8 standard
- It has premium matchmaking ; Will not face Tier 8 tanks
Cons:
- Thin armor for Tier 6 HT, Since it was using its massive HP for protection, although sloped rear armor might bounce some shots
- After the T95 received a speed buff, The TOG II is currently the overall slowest tank in the game (Top speed is only 14 km/h with only 7 km/h reverse speed)
- Prone to ammo rack damage. The Safe Stowage skill is needed for a Loader crew member
- Huge size, poor overall armor, horrible speed, and its popularity makes it a No.1 target for SPGs
- Shell velocity is quite low, Somewhat inaccurate when shooting long range targets
