WoW & Diablo III Lead Designers Make New Studio Bonfire
Diablo III Game Director and World Of Warcraft Lead developer have started a new gaming studio...
Riot Games is funding Bonfire a new multiplayer gaming studio created by ex-Blizzard veterans.
If you don't know who these people are here are their previous titles:
Rob Pardo was the Executive Vice President of Game Design at Blizzard Entertainment and the lead designer of World of Warcraft sometime ago. Josh Mosqueira was the Diablo III game director and successor to Jay Wilson. Nick Carpenter is the former head of cinematics.
Things get even more interesting.... Chris Metzen the Senior Vice President, Story and Franchise Development, Blizzard Entertainment who worked on Diablo III, Warcraft and Starcraft in his own words is now retiring.
This seems like too much of a coincidence for all these events to be happening at once. It sounds like big things have been happening upstairs at Blizzard Entertainment.
What games are Bonfire working on?... nothing has been announced yet and probably won't anytime soon. Right now the studio is focusing on the difficult task of hiring people. But, we do know like Blizzard they are focusing on Multiplayer games.
Considering the studio is funded by Riot Games I have a feeling it's not going to be another MOBA, that's the last thing this world needs. The history of these blizzard veterans includes WoW and Diablo III may be a clue to what types of games get released through Bonfire.
