02002...the year when everything started to change....WWF changed its name to WWE and the attitude era was officially over and the new ruthless aggression era was just getting started...
After the disappointment of just bring it, this game was rebuilt on a new engine and it gave us everything that was needed from the previous game. The new graphics were amazing but the downside to it is the whole grey distorted filter thing. Besides that, this game was the shit at the time and still holds up very well to this day. The roster...kinda outdated but was awesome and better than HCTP although it was missing batista, cena and rey mysterio as this was their debut year, the season mode was hugely well received and well done. What makes it even better is the free roaming around madison square garden and new yorks time square and WWF new york. When you wasn't allowed to play GTA 3, you always had this instead.
Gameplay is just the same but i think this was the first time where you could do special moves with weapons like chairs etc but would be the last time with this style of gameplay with the reversals which they changed (and ruined) in the following game which is why some much prefer this style of gameplay over HCTP.
