The End: An Action Novel by Uzeybug / Uncle Dunky - Part 5 of 5

Uncle Dunky looked into the sack.
"We've got two left sir."
Lieutenant PurnaTube grabbed for his radio.
"Echo 1 to Echo Leader, come in!" Silence.
"Echo 1 to Echo 2 , come in!" Silence.
"Echo 1 to Echo 3, please come in, please!"
"Receiving, Lieutenant."
"Be advised, Echo Leader and Echo 2 are unresponsive. We have held off the alien offensive for now but it won't be much longer before we lose this position. You're on your own in there."
"Lieutenant what is that!" screamed Pariah.
The aliens shooting at them suddenly shifted their fire to the opposite direction. A flood of mutated fleshy creatures that resembled both aliens or aquanauts rushed out the massive structure and attacked the Gill Men and Deep Ones without mercy.
"Lieutenant, they're...they're...they're eating them."
It was true, the zombie mutants began worming around the bodies. However, the bodies that hadn't been chewed up began to rise up and join the others.
"Sir! They're getting up again!"
"RUN!"

Sergeant Kira gasped for breath as he burst into the room. "Army Knife" came in right behind him. Huge reactors rose up in front of them.
"This must be it. This must be the target."
They moved down the stairs while removing and priming magna pack charges from their bags and armour. With a sucking sound, one of the tentacle parasites burst out of the wall, aimed right for Sergeant Kira. "Army Knife" jumped in front of him trying to tackle the creature. Sergeant Kira didn't need any prompting. He ran for the nuclear silos, tossing charges right and left. A gasp behind him meant that his saviour had lost the battle. He tossed out the last of his charges and reached for the detonator. A parasite jumped onto his back and inserted a tentacle into his spine. Kira felt the Hunger. An all encompassing urge to feed, on anything. Kira, with the last of his strength moved his thumb and pushed the plunger.

Commander Foobchain felt the blast and smiled. Even as the creatures burst through the cage and began to eat and assimilate him, he smiled. They had won.

PurnaTube pumped his legs. The sub was right in front of him. He ran inside, waited for Uncle Dunky and Pariah Dark and closed the hatch. He then fired the engines. The sub blasted away from the dock and submerged itself. They breathed a sigh of relief as the sub was put on autopilot with a course set in to Scrublords, their aquatic base. Unbeknownst to them, a creature crept along the ceiling using its many tentacles, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
