GameCube didn’t work at all for me from USB. Copying the game over to the SSD did the trick for me. To get the controls to be the same mapping as the PS2 version I swapped the x and y button and the a and b buttons.
Do this at your own risk. Dev mode is an official Microsoft product but the Programs you install are not.
