Since XCom Enemy Unknown bugged out on us we are going to try playing XCOM 2. It is not the same concept of fighting off an alien invasion and shooting down UFOs (which is what motivated me to play the game) but it is fighting extra-terrestrial aliens, so it should do.

Why Veteran level difficulty? If it wasn't for bad luck I would have no luck at all. There is a lot of luck in XCOM. Just like any game that has a heavy reliance on dice, in this case the random number generator (RNG), I tend to get overly punished regardless of how brilliant or dumb my actions in the game may be. This is why I do not play games that rely heavily on luck. I like to feel like I do have some control over whether I win the game or not instead of feeling like no matter what I do the game can destroy me at any time due to a string of bad luck. As such, normal difficulty level is the highest I will ever play this game. That way I can enjoy playing the game instead of feeling frustrated by the game.

Why no Ironman. The previous crashes explains why no ironman. I want to be able to revert to a previous save if I experience a crash instead of losing an entire series. I will not be save scumming. I had planned on saving only when I finish an episode so that we can pick up there the next time. However, due to all the crashing I have started to quick save a lot so that when the game crashes in the middle of an episode I can pick up at the last quick save and continue the episode instead of having to replay it again from the beginning.
