XCOM 2 Legendary/Ironman, G2E4 - Operation Winter God [Retaliation]
2It's time to crush Legend/Ironman difficulty my friends, a brutal experience that I couldn't hack initially. Now that I've secured the safety of the Earth and it's inhabitants on Commander difficulty however, I want to bring the fight to the most difficult challenge that XCOM 2 has to offer. Note that we will be using a number of mods for fun and enjoyment, check out the list at the end of this description.
It's fair to say that XCOM 2 is the best XCOM game ever made. That doesn't mean it is flawless, perfectly balanced, or a must have for any gamer... but it is by far the most approachable, replayable, and outright gorgeous XCOM ever made. And if you're worried about it being too easy... well, I've played hundreds of hours of Long War and the Commander difficulty felt just right. And the Legend difficulty, well, let's just say you have to know exactly what you're doing to even have a chance.
On my channel I'm always happy to provide strategic and tactical commentary as well as that personal experience in the most difficult and rewarding of games. If you haven't caught one of my series before then grab your notepad, twist your bond-villain-esque mustache, and prepare to face and crush the games that make other Let's Players break out in cold sweats. GAMEPLAY - Mods that adjust balance and/or mechanics.
- LWS Mods: SMG Pack, Leader Pack, Muton Centurion Alien Pack: The three Long War Studios mods that add the SMG weapon type, Leader training in the GTS, and the deadly Muton Centurion enemy to the game. Note these are separate mods from the same skilled creators Long War Studios.
- True Concealment by Takeru Shirogane: Timers don't tick down while you are concealed but reduces all timers by 2.
- Remove Aim Assists by RabidRabbit: In all but Legend difficulty the game will modify to hit in the players favor after unlucky streaks or serious squad losses. This mod removes those bonuses from all difficulties.
- True Retroactive AWC by -bg-: Does a better job than vanilla of ensuring that all soldiers get an AWC perk at some point in their career.
- Experimental Item Unlock by Chickenboy: As long as you have a Proving Grounds Experimental Ammo/Grenade/Heavy item you may build identical items for an elerium core and some supplies.
- Wound Recalibration by MachDelta: Increases the granularity of wound to recovery time for soldiers, meaning that wounds will create more predictable hospital times.
- Engineer2Scientist by xBleedingSoulx: Advanced Warfare Center and Psi Lab now require scientists instead of engineers. Scientists assigned in this way do not contribute to research.
- Suit Upgrading by Janah: Allows the upgrading of Spider Suits and E.X.O suits to power armor in the proving grounds.
- Hacking Rebalanced by Vooyek: Adjusts hacking progressions, chances, and utility items to make hacking game less random.
EXPERIENCE - Mods that increase user friendliness or decrease hassle.
- Better Tactical Zoom Out by Nashable: Increases the height of the zoom out function.
- Stop Wasting My Time by tracktwo, Joshimodo, Ttack, MINERAL-115, and BlueRaja: Removes needless pausing and slowmo in the game as well as reducing Bradford's Retaliation dialogue.
- Overwatch All/Other by whoknew: Adds a new ability that triggers Overwatch on all or all other soldiers with actions points remaining.
- Free Camera Rotation by wasteland_ghost: Allows for more nuanced camera rotation than in vanilla.
- More Maps Pack by tdDaz: Adds new map parcels to the game, increasing map diversity.
VISUAL - Mods that enhance the visual experience of the game.
- Capnbubs Accessories Pack by Capnbubs: Adds some high quality headgear to the game.
- Ink And Paint by Asshole Maddox: Adds new tattoos and facepaints to the game.
- Free The Hood by Lex: Allows headgear and facial props to be mixed and matched.
