Hello again.

Our mission for today is investigating an outbreak in one of City 31's districts. I dare to say that "outbreak" is a fancy way to describe terror missions, but still, we should arrive and prevent the massive casualties if we're to keep the city anarchy in check, Watchers and Commenters.

========
In this episode Jared's storytelling isn't in his FLARETEK HDD, but on XCOM-made field camera.
Yet I'll pretend that Jared stored the information like before.

(Jared, in specifically designed powered armor clad in heat-resistant and radiation-shielded equipment, approaches Novosibirsk by foot - because the Skyranger couldn't get any closer without Firebrand getting bombarded by radiation through steel hull. Even despite the shielding, equipment doesn't work to full efficiency, because of EMP leftover effects)

This is Jar-- -ill, on mission from Resista- -ers. Investigating the event known as... the go- -own massacre. Which sounds stup- --way.

(Jared progresses through the nuked city. ADVENT-era skyscrapers still stand proudly - alien alloy being the savior - yet everything else looks dead. The surface is littered by wall debris, skeletons - both human and alien - and bone structures of Chryssalids. The afternoon sky is covered in dark grey clouds from fires still going on in ground zero. Ash falls from the sky like some kind of a heavy snow, covering everything near Jared like a curtain)

Radiat-- -wered since nuclear strikes. Still too harmful to unshiel- -nel. Weather is horrible. A grim rem- --ork looked.

(The footage on this point gets garbled sounds because of EMP, yet the video quality itself is still recognizable. Following about 40 minutes of Jared approaching the lab, as was discussed in the previous episode's story of Chimerian Squadron, we get to see various ADVENT-made structures, fast food joints, schools and much more.
Yet, finally, Jared approaches the laboratory. It wasn't in ground zero, because the infestation was most severe in a nearby district, so the sound quality gets slightly better - to the point of being understandable)

-eing extreme heat signatures in front of me. This has to be that da- ory. Why it didn't cool down is anoth--

(The entrance to laboratory was obstructed by a massive boulder. This situation was acknowledged before the start of investigation, and so Jared took one of mining tools. WIth him dissecting the boulder, a huge fire blast let out of the laboratory. Jared had felt the heat while dodging the blast, yet he was alright)

Woah! What in the wor-- there?

(Jared goes inside the laboratory, with fire being cleared out. The structure itself is heated like it is on Mercury's surface under the Sun's rays. As he progresses through the former wretched home of Chryssalids, he sees halt-molten biomaterial on the ground, causing vomit strikes. Yet he managed to keep himself intact. The radiation has become much less pronounced in laboratory, allowing sound to come clearly, yet the video footage began to suffer because of heat waves inside)

I'm inside the structure. God, it looks even more awful than I've thought. Looks like the heat was high enough to liquify living beings - probably the original victims and Chryssalids. Yet the half-molten puddles still exists, with bones still being recognizable in some of them.
This is highly disgusting... I'd prefer our psionics to wipe this memory out of my brain.

(Jared soon approaches the ADVENT network node console and sees the data. With no way to translate it without a dedicated device or technician, he downloads it all on a storage space provided by Shen. Yet, he sees the heat signature being even greater in rooms after the console.
Heat-resisting equipment approaches its limits, but Jared absolutely has to see what's up there)

There should be a reason why this hellhole is still hot after several weeks from bombing...

(Jared approaches the door - after which the zone of heat death begins - and uses the thermal scan.
The truth is horrifying - the biolaboratory was also an underground power station. The heat signature belonged to an Elerium power reactor, which still worked, but without any shielding or coolants. Everything in point-blank proximity to Elerium power core not shielded by alien alloys has been melted a long time ago)

Holy sh... For how long this thing has been running like that?! And... oh God, this is damn serious if it also can meltdown!
It's freaking amazing that I've spotted this before the citizens returned to this city! I've got to warn the Resistance about this threat!

(Jared Hill collected every evidence still being intact in the lab and escaped, in hope that XCOM with Resistance could find a way to stabilize the Elerium power core)
