Here we introduce the almighty Hover shivs, but they have a huge flaw, they are very noisy and its really anoying and it will be like that for the rest of the game...
The reason hover shiv is the best is that it can fly, attacking from "higher ground" give bonus chance (and it feels like it gets more defense while flying but i can't find any sources for that), also they have more life/defense stats making them very unlikely to get hit and combining it with regen they are almost indestructible, so are able to float around multiple enemies no problem.
At some point i tried to get the plasma shiv, but didnt have enough resources then i completely forgot to get them later definitely not intentional.
at month 6 the game dificulty reaches its peak enabling heavy mutons/floaters and sectopods, but floating regenerating shivs can handle them very well, they can usually tank 2 non crit hits and survive (they have 60% crit reduction chance so most likely there wont be a crit) if on low life they can easily run away and regen.

XCOM: Enemy Within (2013) is the expansion of Enemy Unkown, a turn based game developed by Firaxis Games and published by 2K Games, the game is a remake of X-COM: UFO Defense (1994) the theme is alien invasion and XCOM is the organization that fights them. It starts with normal machineguns and rifles, but as humans learns with aliens, they eventually get laser and plasma weapons and use their own technology against them!
The Expansion adds a new gene/mec/medal system that can amplify the power of the soldiers, another enemy is also added which is a human company that sabotages XCOM.
