We drop into Japan to investigate an abduction, pull of a beautiful ambush and then things... well they don't go quite according to plan afterwards... One positive is that I get some game mechanics investigation done, FOR SCIENCE!


Difficulty: Classic
Modifiers: Ironman, Hidden Potential, Commanders Choice, Bronzeman (In case of bugs. They recommend NOT using ironman and I once lost an ironman campaign from a bug so I figure this is a happy medium)

Never heard of Long War? It's an amazing mod for XCOM that dramatically enhances the game, splits the 4 original classes up into 8 new ones, gives you up to 8 troops on the field at once, adds a vast array of new weapons and makes the aliens harder, smarter and better at their job without cheating. It's so good that the lead designer of XCOM said it takes the game to a whole new level, that's pretty damned cool.

Never heard of XCOM? Shame on you! Go & buy it, it's amazing. You'll need the Enemy Within expansion if you want to play Long War as well though. The DLCs aren't necessary but they are good.

EDITORIAL NOTE

I sort of stuffed up the audio balance a bit for the first few episodes but I think this is the first one where I managed to get it right. It should definitely be right from here on out, as should the balance of talking to endless silence.
