Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed #026, Ancient Contraption; Step by Step; Riku's Bundle

Previously, the party explored Prison Island and the Gondorl Cathedral in the Black Mountains. They defeated the Sensational Gigapur on Gravina Bridge and the Foghewn Augustus on Travalga Bridge. Now, they will work on a couple of late-game side quests, starting with one on Prison Island.

The party resumes at the Colony 9 Camp. They skip travel to the Third Sanctum secret area on Prison Island, Black Mountains.
1:39 - Black Mountains
In the Third Sanctum, the party examines the Mysterious Ball for a cutscene. This starts the standard quest "Ancient Contraption". They must seek a couple more Mystery Balls in the area.
The party finds a Relic in the back of the Third Sanctum. Contents include an Accessory Unlock Kit; Strategy Manual, vol. 1; and Strategy Manual, vol. 19. Rex uses the kit to unlock his last Accessory slot. Everyone's Accessory slots are now all unlocked.
They skip travel to Valak Peak Camp on Valak Mountain. They take the Ether Slide nearby to lower Prison Island. Just up the slope, they find a Mysterious Ball behind an ice formation.
The party skip travels to the Gondorl Cathedral landmark on Prison Island. In the Corridor of Silence, they find another Mysterious Ball in the east of the ground floor.
The party skip travels back to the Third Sanctum secret area. They place the Mysterious Balls into the Reliefs. A cutscene takes place. The party fights the Reinz Egel, a Level 48 boss.
Another scene takes place after the battle. "Ancient Contraption" complete! The rewards include a Sunlight Ring.
The party skip travels to the Command Center, Colony 9.
18:47 - Colony 9
The party examines the Orbital Skyreader for some dialogue. Then, they chat with NPCs. They conclude the Community tasks for Hyzen, Saomi, and Amryn.
Near the Ether Light in the Central Plaza, they talk to Jethro for a cutscene. This starts the standard quest "Step by Step". They must get a couple of people in Colony 9 to help prepare new Remembrance Stones.
On the balcony southwest of the Command Center, the party talks to Cathy.
On the raise platform in the Central Plaza, they talk to Ruben.
Near the Ether Light, the party approaches Jethro, Cathy, and Ruben for another cutscene. "Step by Step" complete! The rewards include Hero Vambraces and a Gem Unlock Kit. Shulk uses the kit to unlock his final Gem slot. That leaves an unlocked Gem slot for Rex.
The party chats with Colony 9 NPCs again. They conclude the Community tasks for Jethro, Ruben, Cathy, Dillon, Clarity, and Mickey. Poor Mickey.
At Riku's Workshop, the party examines the ??? on the table near the stairs. This triggers a scene between Matthew and Riku. We learn what is in Riku's bundle, and we learn more about Riku himself.
After this scene, the party talks to Riku to conclude his Community tasks.
The party saves at the Colony 9 Camp. They will continue questing next time.
