And so we finally arrive to Yakuza 6, the final Kazuma Kiryu chapter. A book end to the Yakuza series and to Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios' long-time work with a world revolving around one of SEGA's video game icons. One final adventure with the Dragon of Dojima, one last time to wave goodbye to Akiyama, Majima, Saejima, and the rest of Yakuza's rogue's gallery. One more moment with Haruka Sawamura and the orphans of Morning Glory Orphanage. One more gauntlet of HEAT moves and Karaoke songs- for old time's sake! Except for everything but that first sentence up there.

Unfortunately for us, today's Questrospective won't be another celebration Ryu Ga Gotoku nor an emotional retrospective take on a heartfelt, passionate tale. Today, we're disappointed. Today, we're getting critical. Literarily critical. Which means books and stuff. Yakuza 6 is a sales pitch for the Dragon Engine. Yakuza 6 is a pale shade of what Ryu Ga Gotoku has come to represent. Yakuza 6 harbors a much darker purpose (in my opinion) than to entertain folks or give them something meaningful to depart this part of the series with. It breeds contempt of others, it champions harmful ideas...and borders on being a thinly veiled piece of propaganda for Japanese ultra-nationalist interests. Brace yourself for some inarguably horrendous rhetoric.

Also, it just kinda sucks.
