Episode: Yeah Laying Down Foundation For A Base Really Sucks
2 hours of watching me discover just how terrible the base building aspect of the game really is. I may have touched on this on a previous episode but essentially the problem is that you are allowed to basically lay down foundation anywhere in game space. That sounds great until you realize, like I did, that it means that it's nearly impossible to build down or build up to link structures together. The game really should have a modifier button or key press that toggles on a snapping feature that can be modified across various snapping heights. The foundation tiles have a bit of height to them and connecting stair cases are such a huge pain. I understand that the dev's made a choice to avoid a stairway to heaven and hope they allow us to make more consistent cohesive base structures. Also the AI pathing could be much better. You'll find pals trying their hardest to respect the palbox region and if you have any walls, geometry, trees, boulders, ore deposits, etc, you'll see them get stuck out there and starve to death. Also if you have a tiered base like I do, asking them to come and help builds things past the first floor is impossible.
