So what is it all of the sudden with Japan deciding to crank out a slew of JRPGs that I desperately want to play but I just haven't got the damn time. Eiyuden Chronicle, Live A Live Remake, Digimon Survive, Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Soul Hackers 2, Monochrome Mobius, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, Fire emblem three hopes, Ai The Somnium Files.
Square Enix alone are putting out the major hits like Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Crisis Core Reunion, Final Fantasy 16 AND A bunch of smaller titles like Triangle Strategy, Diofeld Chronicles, a Romancing Saga remaster, AND new entry in the Valkyrie Profile series!
I swear I must have complained earlier this year at some point that the release schedule for 2022 was looking kinda sparse and the devs took that as a challenge. There are so many friggin games either just out, coming out or just just announced but I literally cannot cover all of them.
Just today a new trailer dropped for Valkyrie Elysium. I have not played Valkyrie profile 1 or 2. Have you seen how much Profile list for. Honestly I need to just suck it up and emulate the damn game cause I ain't ready to drop $400 plus dollar on a whim. Hopefully it or the PSP version will come to the new PS Plus service soon. But let's get back on topic. Many of us thought this franchise was long dead. For it to suddenly show up like it did several months ago was a real shock. Some folks are taking issue with the franchise going from turned based to action but honestly I'm just happy to see square dust off the property after so long in the bottom desk drawer.
When the announcement trailer dropped it looked very stock footage and I wasn't sure what to make of it since it was just VO and combat without UI. Yes we got actual combat which is always a plus but I wanna see it as it will look in game to get a real sense of how it will play before I throw down my dollars.
The new trailer that dropped just a few hours ago does this in spades. We get a great view of the UI, the characters, the combat, the fricking grapple hook. Does this look like the next AAA game that will give final fantasy 16 a run for its money? No not really but that doesn't mean there isn't an audience. There are plenty of JRPG nuts like me salivating over the opportunity to play anything regardless of budget so long as it's got passion and abit of polish behind it. So i am begging you square; dont fuck this up. Give the devs what they need to make a good game and let us do the rest.
This isn't much of a video in terms of length. I just wanted to rant and rave about an upcoming title that I cannot wait to play plus I'm always afraid these amazing smaller titles will get overshadowed by the likes of final fantasy. So keep an eye out guys and if things look ship-shaped by release time buy the damn game and enjoy the hell out of it.
Valkyrie Elysium drops late September which is hella close. My goodness 2022 is turning out to be way more stacked than I thought it would be. Of the huge list I threw out earlier, what are y'all looking forward to the most? Let me know and i'll catch you next time. Later.
