I don't know why they're acting like this. We've already seen plenty evidence that Lady Comstock wasn't Elizabeth's biological mother, and quite probably not consulted on the decision to lock her up in the tower, but Elizabeth seems to stubbornly refuse that piece of information. And she just discovered that she may be their child like a few hours ago, so it's not like it's changing her world view any more than that already did.
