Yeonni Plays: Spec Ops - The Line [Chapter 14] *run*
When you've died x amount of times in what this game considers the same place (which could be four different places between the same checkpoints) it asks you if you want to switch down difficulty. If a living breathing person walked by and suggested me lowering the difficulty at that moment, I would want to punch their teeth in, set them on fire and walk away from the bonfire laughing like a madman. When the game does it, it's like its taunting me from across a chasm where I can't inflict physical pain in return.
Dear Yager: If you want to present the option to lower difficulty, simply add a pause-menu option to change difficulty and remind the players at the start of the game that it can be changed. With the method you currently employ I cannot ensure your personal safety.
I *like* this game being difficult (absolutely disregarding the segment of shooting down the radio tower from the helicopter, which was the most annoying piece of fuckery I've long encountered). If I manage to get through more than 50% of a chapter without dying, it hasn't been challenging enough. If the highest difficulty wasn't blocked at the start, I would have been playing on that. Now I never will because I rarely replay games, and that is sad.
