Yeti - Commodore 64 - longplay
Minotaurus continues his quest to play every C64 game (could be a lie :D), this time bringing Yeti.
Here what he has to say about this title:
Our goal is to capture the Yeti, clearing our path using a "LEE ENFIELD" rifle and bombs, that allow us to destroy obstacles.
All level are settled in a snowvy envirorment, and if you look at the top of the screen there's a temperature indicator: once it reaches the minimum, we will lose a life.
Beyond the temperature there are the enemies and the lightning bolts of the Buddha statues that will kill us.
Lives are restored after every level (except in the last one).
I had this game as a child and I'm not ashamed to say that I didn't really understand how to play it 🤣
The game is however quite simple even if collisions are not very accurate and you happen to come across some unexpected falls (like at the beginning of the longplay 0:42).
A fairly lazy job, many things could have been done better.
+
A game that mimic his Spectrum counterpart.
You can take the snowmobile to speed up the final part of the first 3 levels
Overall responsive controls
Short, you can finish it in 10 minutes if you learn it.
-
Yeti capture can be frustrating, if you are not careful you lose a life
-The C64 can do much better, especially considering that forgotten title like Turrican was released in 1990
Bugs that make you lose lives without understanding why
Temperature indicator not always accurate
Rating: 4.5-5 (6 for nostalgia)
