The Air conditioner was invented to solve a production problem in a printing company. Basically, humidity and heat would cause the printing paper to expand and contract due to which printing something on it became a difficult task.

Carrier was tasked with the problem and he came up with the air conditioner to lower the temperature and maintain it at a steady rate.

Later on Carrier started a company of his own offering the airconditioner to other factories, theaters and department stores..
