You'll Regret NOT Having This Freewing A-10 !! ✈️ Twin 80mm EDF Bliss
Enjoy watching a few really cool flights of my Freewing twin 80mm EDF A-10 scale rc jet, flying low and aggressive against the greenish landscape of the RACBSA airfield! :DDD
It's truly one of a kind, particularly since you can get very long flights out of just a couple of 6S 4400 mAh packs, and it's a really capable bird, even in terms of aerobatics! It handles wind like a breeze (pun intended) and has a very big presence in the air. Only big downsides are the bad stock thrustline, stiff landing gear springs and limited elevator authority causing difficult landings in stock form but that can be easily modded! ;)
If you haven't watched it yet, here's the 'heavy metal' version of this vid:

This jet was totally asking for some headbanging music edit, and you know it! ;)
As for the terrible landings, as I got more comfy with the jet and started landing slower, I ran into loss of elevator control issues. At some speeds, the entire horizontal stab is pretty much blanked out by the wing's wake and the nose will suddenly drop. No amount of up elevator will compensate for it. You can see that the elevator is fully deflected pitch-up, and even that is insufficient. But the worst part is that the extremely stiff spring of the nose gear makes the jet's nose bounce up badly, instantly gaining excessive AoA which makes the jet stall further without any modicum of control authority left. At that point, you can just prepare for the worst and pray for the best. The fact that the stuck thrustline sucks and pitches the nose down also works against the pilot here, as you can't soften the impact by opening the throttle, as that would pitch the nose down even more violently. I've already fixed the spring issue in subsequent flights by making it softer, but I still need to shift CG further back and replace the engines nozzles by others with a proper thrustline. Keep tuned!
These were Luna's flights 13th and 14th.
