So he sat there, in the quiet darkness, and let his mind wander. He tried to let go of his worries and doubts, to focus on the present moment and nothing else.
Slowly, he began to feel his mind and body relax. The chaos and confusion that had been overwhelming him began to dissipate, and he could feel a sense of calm and clarity taking hold.
For a few brief moments, he was able to let go of his hallucinations and the constant chatter in his mind. He was able to simply exist, to be at peace with himself and the world around him.
But then, inevitably, the outside world intruded. He heard a noise outside the door, and his mind was immediately filled with thoughts and concerns. The moment of peace was shattered, and he was left feeling frustrated and disappointed.
But he knew that he would try again, that he would continue to seek out moments of peace and clarity. Because in the midst of the madness of his schizophrenia, he knew that it was the only way to keep himself sane.
