You and your girlfriend questioning your own identities after merging with the alien.
The interrogation room was cold and sterile, the fluorescent lights buzzing overhead. Your girlfriend sat across from the interrogator, her arms folded tightly across her chest. She looked tired and frightened, but there was a glint of determination in her eyes.
"The Alien didn't seek to destroy," she said, her voice steady despite the tremble in her hands. "It wanted to make something new. It wanted to create, not destroy."
The interrogator raised an eyebrow, clearly skeptical. "And how do you know this?" he asked.
Your girlfriend hesitated for a moment, glancing over at you. You were lying on a hospital bed, hooked up to a machine that monitored your vital signs. You had just woken up from a coma, and your mind was still foggy and confused.
"I don't think so," you muttered, barely audible over the beep of the machine.
Your girlfriend turned back to the interrogator, her eyes shining with tears. "I saw it, with my own eyes. The Alien was trying to merge with us, to create a new form of life. It wasn't trying to harm us, it was trying to help us."
The interrogator leaned back in his chair, studying your girlfriend intently. "And what about you?" he asked, turning his gaze to you. "Are you really you?"
You looked at your girlfriend, unsure how to answer. You felt like a stranger in your own body, like your mind and your memories were slipping away from you. You didn't know who you were anymore, or what you were capable of.
"I don't know," you replied, your voice barely above a whisper.
Your girlfriend stood up, tears streaming down her face. She walked over to you, her eyes searching yours. "Are you really you?" she asked, her voice trembling.
You looked at her, tears welling up in your own eyes. "I don't know," you repeated, your voice breaking.
She took your hand, her eyes shining with a strange, otherworldly light. "And am I really me?" she asked, her voice barely audible over the humming of the machines.
You didn't answer, but instead pulled her into a tight embrace. As you held each other, you felt your irises shimmer, as if they were reflecting some unseen light. You didn't know what you were becoming, but you knew that you would face it together.
