YouTube Shorts Issue: Longer Shorts Showing as Regular Videos

Why are your longer YouTube Shorts showing up as regular long-form videos? This is a common question among creators after YouTube's latest update. Starting from October 15, 2024, YouTube categorizes 3-minute portrait videos as Shorts, but due to the gradual implementation of this policy, some longer Shorts may still appear as regular videos. This is not a bug or technical issue but part of the system’s transition. YouTube is updating channels and subscription tabs to ensure Shorts under 3 minutes are correctly categorized.
Creators uploading educational content in portrait format may find this change challenging since Shorts are often associated with entertainment. However, YouTube is working on fully integrating this policy, and soon all under-3-minute videos in portrait mode will be recognized as Shorts. If you’re experiencing delays, rest assured that your videos will soon convert to Shorts, giving them more exposure in YouTube’s algorithm.
