Ahh, the original Ys games. I like the bump system, I don't mind it at all. But since the original is a 1987 game and the sequel a 1988 game, man are they vague in what you have to do sometimes. It's very easy to just not know what you should do. The dungeons are also quite labyrinthine in design, which is never my favorite type of dungeon design. Still, they're both pretty short games. The redone graphics on the PSP here are amazing, even if it's not pixel art, and the music is fantastic in both games. The original PC remakes of Ys I & II called Complete added some extra stuff such as presents you can give NPCs to get funny dialogue and cutscenes, and the PSP version called Chronicles added some new artwork, but otherwise they're pretty faithful to the originals. You can also cycle through three different versions of each music track, but unfortunately the incredible PC Engine (Turbografx-16) versions are not included here. I like the first two Ys games enough, but I think I've played them enough, now. Too many frustrating parts. The final boss of the first game is also a big LUL RNG fest. Still, they're worth playing through once if you've never played them, if only for the music!
