Add this to your launch options: +map_background preload_room

//////////////////////////Step By Step::///////////////////////////////
1. Download the mod from the tftv thread.
2. Run the program, and if asked, direct it to your tf2 folder, normally found here: "C:\Steam\SteamApps\common\Team Fortress 2\tf".
3. Go through the tabs in the mod, selecting any checkboxes which relate to the weapons you want to disable the viewmodels for.
4. Download the "preload_room" map from dropbox or page 9 in the tftv thread and add it to your "maps" folder, found inside your /tf/ folder you linked before.
5. Add "+map_background preload_room" without the "" to your launch options (open steam, right click on TF2 on the left, click properties, click "set launch options" on the "general" tab, paste this in the box that shows, click "OK".

///////////////////////////////////FAQ:///////////////////////////////////
What does this mod do?
It allows you to pick certain weapons to be hidden in first person and others to be shown, eg hiding the scout scattergun and pistol viewmodels, but showing the bat and mad milk or bonk if you have them equipped.

Why would you use it over scripts like r_drawviewmodels 0?
One thing is that it works on any server, including matchmaking.
Another reason is that you can hide certain models, which scripts don't let you do - you either have to hide or show every weapon in a slot - while this mod lets you pick certain ones to show, like hiding the soldier's shotgun but showing the buff banner horn.
I personally use it to hide the spy gun viewmodel but show the dead ringer and knife.

It's also a lot less glitchy than scripts - if you run out of ammo with a script, it doesn't know that, and will continue to hide/show a viewmodel on a weapon you might not want it to.

This mod also lets you show inspect animations while hiding the idle/shooting one.

Will I get VAC banned?
No. All it does is add a bunch of models like the animation overhaul mods, but instead of reanimating them it hides them in the corner to make them look like they're disabled.

I see a tiny version of my weapon in the corner! Why?
If you have above viewmodel_fov 90 on a lot of weapons this will happen. If it really bothers you you can try and manually edit the models yourself, check the tftv thread. It's not really worth the effort though, I would recommend just using a lower viewmodel fov.

It's not working!
Follow all the steps, but ensure that you have given the mod the EXACT filepath of your TF2 folder, make sure that you added the launch option properly, make sure you haven't got another map_background, just double check everything.

Various bugs with the mod? (eg certain things not hiding properly)
Check the tftv thread to see if others have mentioned it, if not, write a clear, polite comment in the thread to let the mod author know. Check the thread regularly for updates.

I do not know how to get this mod to work on mac/linux, I only own a PC, sorry.
