After the success of the Dark Knight Batman trilogy under the care of Christopher Nolan, and with their superhero competitor, Marvel, having a hit with The Avengers and the growth of their MCU, Warner Bros decided to start a franchise of their own. The DCEU first started in 2013 with the debut of a new Superman movie, Man of Steel, under the direction of Zack Snyder.
It wasn't great.
