"Zelda 2022" (Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Title Screen) // J-MUSIC Ensemble
Our live cover of the "Title Screen" music from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time, composed by Koji Kondo. This arrangement by Patrick Bartley, alternatively titled, "Zelda 2022". Performed live at OS NYC in August 2022.
This is it. It's almost hard to find words to say about this arrangement... but I (Pat) have been waiting almost 3 years to show you all this, after an accident happened in February 2020 that caused me to lose all my audio data except for one song (which might get uploaded later - I was just too depressed to think about anything). All that was left was one lone camera shot that ate at me throughout the entire pandemic (what timing) until I could someday bring this back.
Well, now it's here. When looking for songs to do for our Zelda session in Feb 2020 at Black Cat, I looked everywhere for what would work with the instrumentation I had (Ben was unavailable, but I originally wanted him for this). I found some songs, and as I usually do, I was able to stay pretty faithful to the original sounds and just let them exist in their own genius. However, for some reason, I decided to revisit the title screen music for OOT, because I knew I at least wanted to do SOMETHING from this game... and... I don't know, I just lost track of time, consciousness, everything in that moment, and my brain just started kicking into some type of overdrive, and I conceived this idea for this journey I wanted to go on. It started with the main A section of the piece, then I had to find a way in there... taking my inspiration from my favorite bands and musicians, School Food Punishment, sasakure.UK, and Asian Kung-Fu Generation, something like this came out. It's nothing like Pocket Band's ever performed before, and I consider it to be probably the best arrangement I've done so far.
I really don't have anything else to say about this. I just appreciate you all being here and supporting us this long. I hope you enjoy this dedication to one of the most influential games of all time!
(Really sorry about the video quality here. I tried taking out the rolling bar in the back, and it was a toss up between the intense flicker or this increased motion blur/awkward frame rate. For the sake of everyone's eyes, I chose the latter option. I was sad about this footage being captured this way, but we hope you can at least enjoy the audio, which was captured fine with no issues at all.)
