No kingdom. No memories. After a 100-year slumber, Link wakes up alone in a world he no longer remembers. Now the legendary hero must explore a vast and dangerous land and regain his memories before Hyrule is lost forever.
Armed only with what he can scavenge, Link sets out to find answers and the resources needed to survive.
Sheikah Slate
A mysterious tablet with a glowing center, Link doesn’t recall seeing anything like it before, and yet there's something familiar about it.

Explore Hyrule
The Sheikah Slate features a map of Hyrule to guide Link’s journey. It also has a scope to identify points of interest from a distance.

Download runes
In certain Shrines, Link can download Runes to learn new abilities to help solve puzzles and unlock secret areas.
Get organized
Link can manage his adventure with the Sheikah Slate, using the Inventory to organize items and tracking quests in the Adventure Log.
Discover the vast world around you
Explore the landscape of Hyrule any way you like. Climb up towers and mountain peaks in search of new destinations, then set your own path and plunge into the wilderness.
Towers
Towers
Before Link ventures out into the wild, he can climb to the top of a tower to survey the land.
Shrines
Shrines
There are more than 100 Shrines of Trials scattered throughout Hyrule. Link must solve the puzzles inside to prove his heroism and earn in-game rewards.
Villages
Villages
Link visits many different villages on his journey, each with a unique look and feel.
Stables
Stables
Stables aren’t just for horses anymore. Link can also rest there to restore his health or prepare food or Elixirs before his next adventure.
By land, sea, and air
With this much real estate to explore, Link will need some help in his travels. Luckily, there are plenty of transportation options to unlock. Link can cover a lot of ground quickly on horseback, navigate the waters of Hyrule on a raft, or hit the slopes and surf down a mountain on his shield. And the sky’s the limit when Links soars through the sky with his paraglider.

Fight for your Kingdom
When Link first wakes up, he’s unarmed and defenseless. Relying on his wits and resourcefulness, though, he can acquire over 180 different weapons to use in combat. These items will wear out over time, though, so he must always be on the lookout for more.
There’s more to fighting than just weapons, of course. Link will also have to learn a variety of different attacks—like high-flying bow shots and making use of explosives—in order to prevail.
Fight for your kingdom
Hunting and gathering
Link will need a full stomach to save Hyrule. Hunt wildlife, pick fruits and vegetables, or raid enemy camps for food to sustain the hero through his adventures. You can even learn recipes to spice things up! New dishes are more than just improving the taste, though—they can also heal Link and boost his stats.

Dress for success
Link can wear some pretty stylish outfits, but different clothes can also help shelter him from the elements or deflect enemy fire. You can find everything from snow gear to armor for Link, but be careful—if you wear metal during a storm, you may be in for a shock!
