Open-World action-adventure video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U video game consoles. It is the 19th main installment in the The Legend of Zelda series. The story is set in Hyrule and follows amnesiac protagonist Link, who awakens from a 100-year slumber to a mysterious voice that guides him to defeat Calamity Ganon.
The title's gameplay and mechanics constitute a departure from the series' usual conventions, featuring a detailed physics engine, an open-world environment, HD resolution, voice acting, and the ability to play through the game's dungeons in any order. Announced in 2013, the game was initially planned for release as a Wii U exclusive in 2015. After being delayed multiple times, it is set for release worldwide on 3 March 2017. It will be a launch title for the Switch, as well as the final Nintendo-produced game for the Wii U.
Link can only replenish health by eating items or cooking food. No hearts will be found in grass or off enemies. Similarly, rupees will also no longer be found in the wild, and instead Link must sell items in town to obtain currency
Link needs a Paraglider to safely descend from high altitudes.
You can jump and climb almost any cliff or wall. A stamina meter slowly chips away as you climb. Elixirs can buff this meter so you can climb longer.
Link can sneak up on enemies using stealth. You can initiate it by pressing in the left stick.
Pressing Up on the D-pad causes Link to whistle to summon his horse.
The HUD There’s a meter to measure sound for stealth. You can take a potion to reduce the noise that you make.
1 minute playing the game equals an hour in game, with a full day/night cycle. Many enemies will even go to sleep at night, though some will still prowl during nightfall.
Some areas may feature extreme temperatures requiring Link to use certain attire or elixirs to survive.
At The Game Awards on December 1st, new footage was shown off for Breath of the Wild. During the pre-show leading up to the awards, a quick teaser showed off several locales beyond the Great Plateau, including looks at several villages and other characters, some of whom seem to help Link out in combat. The teaser ended with a figure standing in front of Link, who may have been Zelda, wearing very similar clothes to Link but sporting longer hair.
