I've not seen anyone post this before so I took the liberty of doing it myself.

You can leave the dungeon immediately after obtaining the Pegasus Boots in Key Cavern (Level-3) to get the Ocarina and learn the song to be able to play at the egg with 2. After that, you can just revisit the egg every time you get another instrument.

Note that if you cheat to have less than 2 instruments, you still only get the music as if you had 2 instruments. The Full Moon Cello and Conch Horn will always play.

And yes, the mild popping sounds when certain instruments play is normal and appears to happen even in accurate emulators and on real hardware when turned up far enough in volume. It's not an audio quality issue.
