Zelda: Majora's Mask Playthrough #013, Deku Palace (2/2): Interview with the Monkey
This is video #013 in my Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask playthrough. After Link has bought the Magic Bean and taken the quick, painful way out of the Deku Palace, he goes around the poison-filled moat to the Outer Palace Garden on the east side of the palace.
In the Outer Palace Garden, Link needs to plant a Magic Bean and water it with Spring Water. The bean plant will take him up to the Inner Palace Garden. How convenient! From the upper level of the northeastern Inner Palace Garden, he will have to cross the upper-level platforms through to the south, west, and north. This will be a bit tricky because of the moving platforms and the Mad Scrubs. If Link falls to the lower level, he will have to start over. In the northwestern part of the Inner Palace Garden, he will reach the door leading into the monkey's cell (time index 6:55).
The monkey will not believe Link until Link takes his Deku Mask off. Then, he will ask Link to try to free him. When Link fails, have him put the Deku Mask back on and then use the Ocarina to make him pull out his Deku Pipes. After explaining what's going on, the monkey will teach him the Sonata of Awakening (time index 9:55).
After the scene, Link will get tossed out of the palace (time index 12:44). This time, he has to take the southeast exit, where a flower will propel him to a shortcut to the Woodfall Temple. He will emerge in the treetops of the southwestern section of the Southern Swamp. There are a couple of Dragonflies flying around here. Shoot them down with bubbles before gliding across the tops of the plants.
On the green ledge along the middle of the eastern ridge near the waterfall, Link will encounter Kaepora Gaebora, of all "people" (time index 15:20). After the brief scene, the pedestal that the owl was sitting on will teach Link the Song of Soaring, which can transport Link to any of the Owl Statues that he has activated so far in the game. This is easily one of the most useful songs in the game.
From there, Link can continue on to the exit leading to Woodfall.
Thanks for watching!
